Derek Nash and Martin Dale play swinging sax tunes in the style of the great sax teams of the 1950’s. Such great pairings as Tubby and Ronnie, Zoot and Al, Getz and Mulligan have all influenced their new programme.
Along with well known jazz standards expect a lively latin tune, a beautiful ballad, a bossa nova and an uptempo, toe tapping’ swinging tune or two.
Renowned for his energetic, vibrant, passionate and charismatic performances on all four saxophones from sonorous baritone to souring soprano, Derek Nash is a member of The Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra as well as The Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion. He’s joined by his old chum Martin Dale, a renowned tenor and alto sax player on the south west circuit, along with his trio.
“From smooth cool to groovy funk, to ingeniously recast standards…the music fizzes with energy…” The Observer
