18 -19 July: Tide Project – Art, Music & Soundbath

You are warmly invited to soak up a unique multi-arts creative experience at Calstock Arts Centre on 18th & 19th July 2026… inspired by the magic and mystery of water.

Join singing group, Meadow Voices, as the ‘Tide’ Project opens at 7pm with a performance and art exhibition on Saturday 18th July…an evening of original songs, music, artwork, stories and spoken word.

After the art exhibition from noon on Sunday 19th July, Tide ripples to a soothing close  with a beautiful, evocative Soundbath at 3-4pm. Join Emily of Sounds Like Healing for an extra special experience immersed in the therapeutic sounds of instruments amid the art on display. Drift into a state of relaxation by the river, as the vibrations soothe your soul.

Event director, Emily Foulkes, was inspired by local artists to bring together a water loving, creative community to produce what promises to be a tender, uplifting weekend.

The story of this project began with a beautiful glass sculpture entitled ‘Tide’ created by Cornish artist, Gill Mannings Cox. Local mindful photographer, Debbie Geraghty, was commissioned to capture some images of ‘Tide’. Those exquisite photographs deepened the experience of the sculpture and became moments of artistic reflection in their own right.

Like the tide, this story took a further unexpected turn when this collection of new artwork inspired the composition of an original musical piece by local choir leader and songwriter, Emily Foulkes. She entitled her creation ‘Tide’ in response to honour the original artwork. One of the singers involved in Meadow Voices is Cornish-based artist Red Peters. She, too, became moved and her water themed stone sculptures also feature as part of the Tide Project.

The Tide musical composition, and other water themed pieces, will be debuted by Emily’s singing group, Meadow Voices, as part of the Tide project residency. The performance will be accompanied by professional musician, Giles Woolley, and features poetry from Lostwithiel-based artist, Margot Hartley. This event is a truly unique opportunity to enjoy local talent and witness the culmination of a multi-arts creative experience which has flowed and gathered like the magic and mystery of water.

This project is supported by Calstock Arts, and a donation from the Bernard Nevill estate. The Tide Project is raising funds for Cornwall charity, Music for Good, and its Singing for Health Network programme. Proceeds will support training and delivery of high quality group singing to support people living with chronic health conditions.
