1 July: Superlocrian

Superlocrian are recognised as one of the UK’s finest emerging crossover chamber jazz ensembles. Calstock Arts are thrilled they are fitting us in around their performances at the Budleigh Music Festival.

Blurring the lines of genre categorisation, this small wind ensemble performs on trumpets, flugelhorns, saxophones, flutes, trombones and tuba, and showcases brand new arrangements and compositions for this unique format from exciting young composers including Callum Au, Tom Green and Sam Massey.

Having featured on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune in its infancy, Superlocrian has just recorded its debut album in 2023 at the world-famous AIR Studios – it features a wealth of experience and talent, from London’s glittering West End to the South West’s finest soloists.

From Bond to Bacharach via beautiful rich harmonies and brand new music, there is something for everyone in a Superlocrian concert – check out their showreel for a taste of what they do here
