SUMMARY:20 June: Cara Dillon - sold out
DESCRIPTION:Few voices linger in the soul like Cara Dillon’s. A towering figure in Irish music\, she has earned global acclaim and countless awards\, including the Meteor Award for Best Irish Female and four BBC Folk Awards. For close to 30 years\, she has occupied a singular space in folk music. Her voice—deceptively delicate yet emotionally devastating—evokes something timeless and elemental.\n\nCentral to her remarkable career is her husband and collaborator\, Sam Lakeman\, whose role as composer\, producer\, and performer has been pivotal in shaping Dillon’s sound. Their intimate live shows feature acoustic sets drawn from her extensive discography. Classics like “Black Is the Colour” and “The Parting Glass” appear alongside new material from ‘Coming Home’\, her landmark 2024 release\, which seamlessly weaves spoken word and song in a profound meditation on identity and emotion.\n\nFrom her early days in Óige and De Dannan\, through the major-label corridors of Warners and Rough Trade\, her music has travelled far beyond folk’s usual borders and continues to defy boundaries—from chart-topping remixes\, Disney soundtracks\, to the hit TV series Derry Girls. As Mojo magazine once wrote\, Dillon possesses “quite possibly the world’s most beautiful female voice.” With ‘Coming Home’\, she affirms that legacy—not simply as a singer\, but as a storyteller of rare emotional depth; her voice\, as always\, lingers long after the last note fades.

SUMMARY:26 June Alan Dall and the Sea of Stories
DESCRIPTION:  \n“Alan Dall and the Sea of Stories” is an exciting new show from Mike O’Connor and Barbara Griggs. It comprises dramatic tales from Celtic Lands\, told in words and music\, with harp violin and concertina. \nMike and Barbara are not only great storytellers and musicians\, they are also both accomplished offshore sailors. In this show\, their tales are set on the sea\, in the sea\, and beside the sea. They are rich with insight. They are engaging\, exciting\, moving and amusing. The audience is taken on a voyage of adventure\, drama and magic\, but they are always brought safely home. \nSince the Bronze Age\, bards have declaimed battle honours\, genealogies\, histories and stories\, both to entertain and also to endorse the positions of their rulers. By camp fires and hearths\, families told tales to entertain and to educate both adults and children. As late as the nineteenth century\, travelling storytellers in Cornwall told tales in return for bed and board. \nMike O’Connor OBE is a well known storyteller\, with a deep knowledge of legend and folk tale\, and a great skill with language. A bard of Gorsedh Kernow\, he is respected as a violinist\, song writer and musicologist\, and is known to many for his music for “Poldark”. \nBarbara Griggs is a skilled and sensitive musician and a fine storyteller. She too is a bard as well as being a Gorsedh harpist. Her music has been described as having “breath-taking” beauty. She is the expert on costume and custom\, and with Mike\, has worked to integrate words\, sound effects and music to high praise. \nMike and Barbara’s “Return to Lyonesse” won a British Award for Storytelling Excellence and “Odysseus Dreaming” was an acclaimed retelling of Homer.

SUMMARY:9 July - Our Land - Film
DESCRIPTION:OUR LAND dares to tread where few have trespassed before\, asking the timely question of who has the right to roam in the English countryside?  \nThe UK is a wild and beautiful place\, but the vast majority of it is off limits to the general public\, with 92% of land and 97% of all rivers in England not legally accessible. At the same time\, it is a landscape shaped by centuries of inheritance and tradition\, with land held and cared for by families across multiple generations.  \nOUR LAND takes us to the heart of the ‘Right to Roam’ movement as it embarks on a provocative trail of mass trespass\, campaigning and education\, while also exploring landowners’ concerns around environmental protection and the danger such widespread access could pose to a landscape already under threat. \nFeatures:\nGuy Shrubsole – Author of ‘Who Owns England’ & ‘The Lie of the Land’\nNick Hayes – Author of ‘The Book of Trespass’\nLandowners from Cornwall to Scotland\nMembers of the Right to Roam movement \n<https://www.theguardian.com/film/2026/may/05/our-land-review-right-to-roam-campaign?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other>\n[2042.jpg] \nDirector Orban Wallace\nBBFC Cert 12A\nRunning time 90 minutes \nhttps://youtu.be/est-ISGu9D0  \nDownload

SUMMARY:July 16 - Film - Where Women Rise
DESCRIPTION:Seventeen women. One mountain. No more silence. \nIn the shadow of Africa’s highest peak\, a group of extraordinary women embark on a journey that begins long before they reach the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Cloudline: Where Women Rise is a raw\, breathtaking documentary following seventeen trekkers as they battle sub-zero temperatures\, thinning air\, and the physical limits of their own bodies to conquer the “Roof of Africa.” \nBut for this team\, the steepest climb has already happened. \nMore than half of the trekkers live with life-altering childbirth injuries or ostomy bags—conditions often shrouded in shame and medical stigma. From survivors of traumatic births to those reclaiming their identity after stoma surgery\, these women are hiking to fundraise for a charity dedicated to supporting and empowering other women both in the UK and Kenya to embrace life after stoma surgery or childbirth injury. \n“We aren’t just climbing for ourselves; we’re climbing for every woman who has been told her body is a source of shame. We are taking that shame to the summit and leaving it there.” \nThe Journey at a Glance:\nThe Mission: Raising vital funds and awareness for childbirth injuries and ostomy support in Kenya. \nThe Team: 17 women united by shared trauma and a refusal to be defined by their physical “limitations.” \nThe Challenge: 19\,341 feet of unforgiving terrain where every step is a testament to resilience. \nThrough intimate interviews and grueling high-altitude footage\, the film strips away the taboos surrounding women’s health. It’s not just a story about a trek; it’s a cinematic celebration of radical vulnerability\, sisterhood\, and the indomitable strength of the female spirit. \nWitness the moment when “broken” becomes “unbreakable.” \n*All ticket revenue will go to the charity Chameleon Buddies\nhttps://chameleonbuddies.org.uk/ \nThis film has not been submitted for age certification and therefore has to be advertised as certificate 18 \nhttps://www.instagram.com/cloudline_wherewomenrise?igsh=MXAweWducDEzNHNydw== \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:23 July Blue - Joni Mitchell Sung by Mae Karthauser
DESCRIPTION:“I was utterly blown away… an absolute emotional rollercoaster..magical” Amy \n“In all my years I have never cried at a gig. I was crying on the first song” Martin \nSongwriter Mae Karthauser is lending her voice to a breathtaking new live performance: a heart wrenching tribute to Joni Mitchell’s seminal album Blue. \nMae will be performing the entire Blue album\, plus nine other Joni favourites from her early songwriting era. \nMae\, who has performed at Glastonbury Festival\, on prime-time BBC1 and on BBC Radio 3 and Radio 6\, identified Joni Mitchell as the first and most influential songwriter she discovered as a teenager\, and was called to delve into recreating the album as a live performance when approached by friend and guitarist Rowland O’Connor at the end of a gig back in 2025. “Who’s album would you most like to recreate?” he asked. Unprompted\, they both came up with the same answer. \n“Joni Mitchell’s songs feel like dreams\, like journeys off somewhere deep and familiar” says Mae. “It’s great to go beyond memorising and really into the magic\, the poetry and the stunning emotional landscapes Joni is able to conjure with her songwriting” \nBreathing new life into the 1971 classic\, Mae’s silken and athletic vocals soar nimbly over Joni’s melodies\, and paired with her expressive piano playing she brings a raw and living presence to these timeless songs. Mae is joined by regular collaborators Rowland O’Connor on guitar\, bass and Appalacian dulcimer\, Ric Byer on drums and Tess Broach on backing vocals. \n<https://youtu.be/d5ZfcJB2_mQ>

SUMMARY:18 September Cole Stacey
DESCRIPTION:Cole Stacey is a visceral and lyrical songwriter\, singer and musician whose versatility as a performer has taken him from The Royal Albert Hall to a 14th century castle in Gdansk. \nFrom Manchester Central Library to The Westfalenhalle Arena\, from festivals in Johannesburg to live sessions on BBC Radio 5 Live. \nWith more than a decade-long association with Midge Ure and India Electric Company he has roamed the highest echelons of British folk through to 80s synth pop. \n“He is incredible”\n– Times Radio \nOften using unique places as part of his creative framework\, Cole records and performs in remarkable spaces\, from medieval jailhouses and Victorian clay factories  treating buildings as collaborators rather than backdrops. His music grounds listeners in timeless sound and emotion\, inviting reflection\, connection\, and a sense of continuity with what endures. \n“Breathtaking\, that incredible voice” – TradFolk \nHis first solo offerings\, including an acoustic re-imagining of Fade To Grey\, catapulted him to the Top 10 in the UK Charts and to numerous sold-out shows in unique locations.  Hailing from a small Devonshire village that is tricky to pronounce\, Cole’s extraordinarily broad musical horizons continue to expand\, but his work is firmly rooted in exploring shared human experience – how words\, stories and songs resonate across time. \nWebsite www.colestacey.net \nFacebook https://www.facebook.com/ThisColeStacey/\nInstagram https://www.instagram.com/thiscolestacey \nX https://x.com/thiscolestacey\nYou Tube https://www.youtube.com/colestacey\nSpotify https://spoti.fi/3xzEY5a\nTikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@thecolestacey\nEmail: contact@colestacey.net \nWatch/Listen: Cole Stacey – Quiet Is Louder (official video)\nWatch/Listen: Cole Stacey (feat. SUMMARY:October 9 Dale Storr - The Sounds of New Orleans
DESCRIPTION:“A very\, very fine piano player indeed” – Paul Jones\, BBC Radio 2 \n“Dale is the best New Orleans player I’ve ever heard” –Richard Hawley \nDescribed by Jazz Journal magazine as the ‘piano man’s piano man…’ and ‘a\nnational treasure’\, Dale Storr’s musical journey has now brought him\nrecognition as one of the UK’s leading exponents of New Orleans piano. \nImmersed in the styles of heroes like Dr John\, James Booker\, Professor\nLonghair\, Allen Toussaint\, Fats Domino and Huey ‘Piano’Smith\, he\nestablished himself in his early career as a highly sought after pianist\nbacking many top blues stars from the UK and America.  But keen to follow\nhis true passion\, Dale went solo in 2008 with his now acclaimed ‘Sounds of\nNew Orleans’ show and has not looked back since. \nIn 2023 he opened the Buxton International Jazz Festival\, his music has\nbeen played on BBC Radio 2 (Cerys Matthews\, Paul Jones)\, BBC Radio 6 (Cerys\nMatthews) and BBC Radio 3 (Jazz Record Requests) and he has released three\nsolo albums in the last decade. \nDale’s latest show is a celebration of the music of New Orleans piano\nlegends Dr John and James Carroll Booker\, two of Dales biggest musical\ninfluences. \nIncorporating piano mastery and mesmerising storytelling\, he draws in the\naudience with the rich history behind the music and the\ncaptivating\,sometimes risqué stories of his much-loved piano heroes. \n“Incredible…Never seen anybody play like that…only James Booker”–British\nBlues legend Victor Brox \n“If there is a better New Orleans-style pianist in the UK than the\noutrageously talented Dale Storr\, please point me in his or her direction\nbecause he or she must be very\, very special”-Blues in Britain magazine‘ \n“Storr’s music is authentic barrel house  pianism and singing\, and should\nbe on the playlist of all broad minded jazz lovers” Jazz Journal magazine

SUMMARY:11 October: Lantivet Duo
DESCRIPTION:The Lantivet Duo is Cornish violinist Anna Brigham and Scottish pianist Brendan Musk. They bring a fresh\, contemporary approach to the violin and piano duo\, combining excellence in performing traditional repertoire with writing their own music. At the heart of their collaboration is the desire to explore. Their roots in classical\, folk\, jazz\, pop and funk music combined with boundless creativity have earned them critical acclaim\, with Classic FM hailing them as “one of the best things to see.” Together\, they captivate audiences with a spellbinding blend of traditional and original pieces. \nTheir exceptional programming is completely unique and has been described as “genuinely original and exploratory”. The duo take a concept or a classical work and explode it outwards\, exploring deep into what inspired the composer and using it as inspiration for their own music. Contemporary folk traditions\, family life\, environment\, personal obsessions – there are so many influences in any composer’s work. Using this as a jumping off point\, the duo write their own music and arrange traditional folk tunes\, which when paired with the classical work\, reflects back to create a deeper\, richer experience of the piece. \nIndividually\, Anna and Brendan have thriving freelance careers. They perform with world-class orchestras\, chamber groups\, and artists such as the Philharmonia\, Dunedin Consort\, and Bjork\, have headlined at prestigious festivals\, and appeared at venues like the Royal Albert Hall\, the Wigmore Hall\, and Ronnie Scotts. As a duo\, they have delighted audiences throughout the UK and performed for the Spanish Embassy. Outside of the concert hall\, they are particularly proud of their Summer Garden Concert Series\, now in its fourth year\, which brings music to intimate and unique settings. They are very excited to have released their debut album in 2025. \nHere is a taster: https://youtu.be/vT53Fjap7h4

SUMMARY:November 13 - “The Selkie Who Stayed and other stories\, an evening of storytelling”
DESCRIPTION:A selkie woman comes ashore to dance under moonlight and finds herself caught in the arms of a sailor. Captivated by love\, she chooses to stay\, surrendering her bond with the ocean for the promise of family life. \nBut what does it really mean to stay? As the years pass\, she is tethered to a growing child\, weighed down by domestic routine\, and slowly estranged from her own wild self. Where once she swam vast oceans\, she now migrates between the washing machine\, the oven\, and the school gate – an unwitting tradwife. Torn between loyalty and longing\, depression and quiet rage\, our selkie must reckon with the cost of staying and the near-impossibility of leaving. \nHilarious\, heartfelt and darkly intimate\, The Selkie Who Stayed reshapes the classic Selkie myth for the age of consent. \nThe night will open with Tales of Freyja – a collection of stories of the fierce Norse Goddess. \nSuitable for ages 12+. \nHannah Sneyd is a storyteller based on Dartmoor. She began performing four years ago when stories began to drop into her thoughts\, asking to be told. Her style is witty\, lyrical and bold\, using story to weave bridges between the world we inhabit and the magical realms just beyond our fingertips. With a background in science and nature documentary television and a passion for nature\, her work is deeply inspired by the landscape and the creatures within it. So expect dancing rivers\, quarrelsome birds and even the odd dragon. \nWhen not performing\, Hannah works as an educator\, creating transformative spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect and learn through theatre. As associate artist with organisations Bigfoot Arts Education\, Doorstep Arts and Reboot the Roots\, she has run workshops in theatre-in-education at schools\, social centres and festivals across the UK and wider Europe. She runs the monthly storytelling club Stories and Stars at a permaculture site in central Plymouth\, and loves nothing more than sharing stories around an open fire\, under a blanket of stars.

SUMMARY:15 November: Elizabeth Jane Baldry
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome the return of the highly accomplished local harpist Elizabeth-Jane Baldry\, for what will be an enchanting concert. As a recitalist\, she is well-known for her warm and approachable presentation style. The Bath Chronicle said of her: “It is hard to say just which was more pleasurable – the exquisite playing or the often deliciously outrageous stories of composers’ lives that Elizabeth Jane recounted in between the music.” She performs both nationally and internationally\, giving around eighty performances a year from recitals in historic houses or specialist arts cruises to weddings and funerals. She has performed to sold-out audiences in the USA\, Italy and France. \nElizabeth-Jane fell in love with the harp as a little girl whilst reading fairy-tales in which the harp possessed magical powers! She grew up to study at Exeter University and the Royal College of Music\, and has been a full-time professional musician for over thirty years. As well as performing recitals\, she is the only specialist silent movie harpist in the world\, playing live to cinema screenings of early film\, and has won multiple awards for her silent film accompaniments and compositions. Her uniquely rich tone on the harp has graced film and TV soundtracks screened in over thirty countries including Canada\, Iceland\, Kenya\, Iran and South Africa. Her compositions have been used by ITV\, the BBC and by Irish\, Japanese\, Danish and Canadian film\, radio and television. \nA life-long lover of nature\, Elizabeth-Jane lives in the Dartmoor National Park. In her spare time\, she loves growing trees and creating a magical woodland where she can brew tea in a twig kettle\, keep bees and listen to birdsong. Sometimes she gets up on Sunday mornings early enough to sing in the church choir. Her tiny granite cottage is full of music\, books and harps\, and the kettle is always on for friends. \n“She is a great artist and consummate performer. She can draw more tone colours out of the instrument than any other harpist living in the world today.” David Watkins\, Professor of Harp\, Guildhall School of Music \nHere is a taster: https://youtu.be/XgcPT3ZR2JM?si=7pNtngm_kCm4qZyH
