Sunday 4 August
Afternoon Tea with Tom Vowler

To celebrate the publication of Tom Vowler’s latest novel What Lies Within, the award winning local author will read extracts from his book, followed by a question and answer session, book signing and the chance to enjoy tea and cake with Tom.

Tom’s short story collection, The Method, won the international Scott Prize in 2010 and the Edge Hill Readers’ Award in 2011. Now an associate lecturer at Plymouth University, his debut novel is a psychological thriller set on the uplands of Dartmoor and has already received critical acclaim.

‘As unsettling as it is minutely imagined, this striking debut novel from Tom Vowler will give serious pause for thought to anyone considering downsizing for a cosy life in the countryside.’ Patrick Gale

Tom is Assistant Editor for the literary journal Short FICTION. In 2008 he graduated with an MA in Creative Writing and is now studying for a PhD, looking at landscape and trauma in contemporary fiction.
