Saturday 12 October:
Unexpected Animal|Kindling with Saffy Setohy

Unexpected Animal|Kindling is an intimate double-bill of duets which explore the relationship between mother and son through dance, live performance and film.

Choreographed by Saffy Setohy, and performed by dance artist Lois Taylor and her teenage son Jake, Unexpected Animal|Kindling invites the audience to witness a tender and playful choreography of a parent and child on the cusp of change.

Weaving visceral movement, text, imagery and a sound score encompassing live and found sounds, Unexpected Animal|Kindling is a unique collaborative enquiry into a relationship and the places it dances through. Unexpected Animal gives attention to the unfolding and evolving of this relationship in the live moment of performance. Kindling explores Lois and Jakes’ relationship to their home environment in a collage of expanded moments in time, captured on film.

Suitable for a wide variety of ages and audiences from the young to the more mature, including the regular performance goer and those who have never seen dance or performance before. The film and sound elements of the show provide extra appeal for a wide audience.

Followed by Q&A with the cast and crew.
