Gallery Bar Special with Pete Canter and Peter Tamblyn

Two excellent musicians play a selection of swing, bebop and latin jazz standards, along with well-crafted originals.

Pete Canter is an accomplished jazz saxophonist, composer and double bass player. Pete played on the 1980s London jazz scene before moving to the south west where he has established himself as a fine saxophone player with an exquisite tone and as band leader behind a succession of creative jazz projects. He has recorded several well received jazz albums and played at south west jazz festivals including Cheltenham, Bude and Teignmouth. Pete hosts the thriving monthly Bridge Jazz Club at the Exeter Phoenix.

Peter Tamblyn is a jazz pianist, cellist and conductor. He is Director of Music of the vibrant music department at Exeter School. Initially trained as a classical musician, he now plays jazz in duo, trio, small ensemble and big band settings and is a regular in the house band at the Bridge Jazz Club. He cites the influences of Bill Evans, Red Garland and Herbie Hancock on his playing.
